The WifiAid program lists all active wireless networks and provides a simple interface to quickly connect to open networks. I previously used the third party wireless interface application which came with my wireless card. Unfortunately Microsoft's Vista does not support this program and Vista's WLAN interface program is slow and doesn't provide sorting or filtering of WIFI networks.
As my wife and I continue to cruise, finding Open WIFI Hots Spots has become a requirement. We often select our anchorage based on the WIFI connection. As a consequence WifiAid has been designed to easily detect and find the best location for WIFI reception. The program can interface with the ship's GPS to track WLAN signal strength versus time and location. The information is displayed on a map or chart so that the user can visually see were the best locations are.
